  it offers a highly sanitized version of early jw history.

  but what is particularly strange is this revisionist history re-categorizing of an early bible student/jw, one hugo riemer.

  I think you're missing the significance of their claiming this as "New Light" from YHWH: by saying that they've received new information, that gives them carte blanche, even the Divine command to clarify what they got wrong in the past! So no kidding, they're changing history, but THAT'S EXACTLY WHAT "NEW LIGHT" requires!

  So what you've uncovered is not evidence of inconsistency, but a manifestation, a correction to the past that IS covered under "New Light".

  That's why the approach of focusing on the illogical elements of the parable which CANNOT BE EXCUSED or managed with rewritten histories (those mentioned by Leo etc) are more beneficial; while they can change the status of dead people posthumously until the cows come home, they cannot easily repair broken time-lines or change interpretations that conflict with God's claimed traits (omniscience), etc.

  No one is doubting that there's revisionist efforts going on, just that it's basically arguing a distinction without a difference, differentiating between a formally-named GB vs a de-facto GB, which did the same task of "providing meat in due season" before there WAS a formal GB (and that's what I was suggesting when I said, "a rose by any other name....").

  Clearly, SOMEONE wrote the publications before the formal GB, right? They didn't write themselves.

  Point is, it's a line of reasoning that isn't necessary: there's plenty of other more compelling approaches on which to challenge the "New Light".

  How can one have faith and have no clue and understanding what is written in the Bible?

  what,s my problem, you and your wife needs to attend.

  some church, you need jesus in your lives.. well i explain to her why we do not attend any religious.

  a video will be posted later today where all the mysteries of god, the disgusting thing causing desolation, all the contradictions in the bible, why god in the old testament seemed so cruel, why was satan created if god is good, how is god love?

  Well, we're forced to use deductive reasoning, then.

  It seems possible that God may have hindered EOM plans to upload, since it was a false teaching, and hence a work of the .

  On the other hand, it's possible that Satan was trying to block EOM's efforts, since it WAS the Truth and if it got out, that would've advanced the Will of God.

  But since Satan WAS created by God, there's no telling which one it was....

  Remember, Satan WAS depicted as a member of the Divine Counsel in the account of Job, hence serving the role as District Att'y in God's heavenly theocracy. Anyone ever heard of collusion, or seemingly-opposing forces being on the SAME team, but playing "good cop/bad cop"?

  It's like the old saying from baseball, "you can't tell the players without a scorecard".

  I say you're better off flipping a 3-sided coin (to accommodate that neither God/Satan exist), OR just flip a one-sided coin with the last alternative on it...

  In the case of Olin Moyle, the dismissal ...

  Nope. He resigned. His complaint letter to Rutherford WAS his letter of resignation.

  In the case of Ray Franz, disfellowship never became an EXPLICIT matter of doctrine or his conduct while he was on the Governing Board. He resigned.

  As explained by WT themselves, GB is a legal term used to describe the body that controls an organization, eg a board of directors, etc. I don't see the problem with claiming that those who served the function in the past are now considered as members of the GB, since they WERE de facto GB. A rose by any other name.... Ray Franz wrote in CoC about the issue of trying to keep the two bodies separate, but it seems the "mergers" won the argument in 2012, since they're merging the two now.

  But even there, I suspect you're over-thinking matters, as the average R&F JW is not going to care about such nit-picky details (or dismiss them out-of-hand as quibbling). E.g. it doesn't matter WHY the GB member who displays behavior consistent with the "evil servant" is cut off, just as long as they are no longer a member of the GB or Society, whether they resigned or were DFed.

  Not that it matters: as presented in other discussions by Leolaia and others, there's other more fundamental logical problems raised by attempting to further modify the parable into a faux prophecy (issues relating to time-lines, blowing God's claimed traits of omniscience and omnipresence, etc).

  In movies and TV, there's an expression used to describe when the story-line gets taken to a point of such outlandishness that it stretches viewer's credulity beyond the breaking point: "jumping the shark". The reference is to the TV episode in the sitcom "Happy Days" where Fonzie water-skis in the ocean and jumps over a shark.

  I somewhat doubt this "new light" IS the WT's version of "jumping the shark", but that'll depend on how observant the individual JW has been following the story-line.

  Except their defense is to claim that the old light WAS truth, just not as close to the truth as the NEW light. It's more better....

  You're making the mistake of relying on binary (duality) logic, such that if something is not completely true, it must be false. Real life is not binary, black and white.
